This poem is inspired by how my general mood has lifted since Fame Academy 2002. Being part of the online Fame Academy community, and Nigel's fan community, and having met Nigel in person at his gig in March 2003, have all contributed to this.

A voice like a gentle dawn,
freeing me from the stress,
taking me on a journey,
one I'll never forget.

Lifted from the shadows,
setting my spirit free,
brightening horizons,
helping my heart to beat.

To a soul so giving,
a talented star too,
from a fan now loyal,
who will always stay true.

I saw you on the TV,
that's where you caught my eye,
practising for Fridays show,
with the world looking by.

I looked on the internet,
to learn a little more,
as I hadn't watched the show,
the first two weeks before.

We like similar music,
grew up with the same songs,
the more I learnt about you,
the further I ventured on.

Your great voice won me over,
as the weeks passed on by,
so much so that I voted,
when you sang to survive.

Your leaving was a big loss,
I missed your rockin' tones,
but at least you seemed happy,
to get to go back home.
