Thursday
13th November 2003 - Music Biz : Life After Fame
Academy
This
piece looked at Nigel's brush with fame in the
BBC reality tv series, and showed clips from the
series and from the sucessful Fame Academy Live
Tour that followed in April of 2003. Nigel then
went on to tell us a little about what he's been
up to since. He talked about putting a backing
band together so that he can do gigs and tour, he
has been writing his own songs, and has produced
a CD single. He mentioned that he has a website.
He also told us about a childrens story that he
has done some music for.
There was also
some footage of Nigel and David Sneddon working
on a new song together. It was good to see David
helping out his old Fame Academy buddy.
One other thing to
mention, Nigel has aquired an eyebrow ring, which
I will admit came as a bit of a shock... each to
their own!
Thursday
27th November 2003 - Music Biz : Interview with
Paul Carrack
Nigel
introduced the interview. Mr Carrack, who was the
lead singer for Mike and the Mechanics, amongst
other accolades, talked about how he enjoys gigs
and touring, and that he wouldn't want to compete
in the current music industry. Mr Carrack is
doing some gigs over the next few months, so keep
an eye out!
Nigel summarised
at the end that Mr Carrack was worth going to see
live.
Thursday
4th December 2003 - Music Biz : Interview with
Marcus Cliffe
Nigel
introduced the interview on stage at a venue
where Mr Cliffe was do to gig later. They talked
about how Mr Cliffe got into music. He was
originally a piano player, but got interested in
bass guitar at school, and as one of only three
bass players there he became somewhat sort after.
Mr Cliffe has played for many top artists,
including Mark Knopfler, and 'Baby Spice' Emma
Buntin. He also has his own material out there.
He recommends a banana as a mid concert snack
when performing!!
Thursday
11th December 2003 - Music Biz : The Music
Factory
Nigel gets to take a guided tour around
'The Music Factory', which was responsible for
the 'Jive Bunny' tracks. They couldn't get any
backing from any record companies so they set up
their own company and released the singles
themselves, which turned out to be a great
success. They have since expanded the business
and now produce karaoke CD's amongst other
things.
Nigel ended his
visit by being edited onto an old black and white
video, playing his guitar.
