| Nigel presented a
number of reports for BBC1 Look North throughout
August and September 2004, his second batch of
reports for them. They aired on Wednesday nights, 18th
and 25th of August, and the 1st and 8th of
September.
The Look North
show is on between 6:30pm and 7pm, and can be
found on Sky digital channel 946 for those who
are outside the Yorkshire area.
Below is a quick
summary of each of the pieces.
Wednesday
August 18th 2004 - Music Biz : Alistair Griffin
The first in this second series sees Nigel
interview Alistair Griffin, the runner up from
the second series of Fame Academy. Alistair looks
set to release a second album due to an
'investor' putting up the money.
Wednesday
August 25th 2004 - Music Biz : Summer Courses
Nigel visited Leeds to check
out their summer music courses. The course that
they focused on was Jazz and Pop vocals, and
Nigel chatted to some of the students to find out
why they were there, and what they wanted to get
out the course. He also got some of the students
to do harmonies for one of his own songs,
Something Happened.
Wednesday
September 1st 2004 - Music Biz : Jane McDonald
Nigel
interviewed singer Jane McDonald. She is
recording a new album which will be released in
November this year, featuring some old 50's/60's
ballads and a few songs that she's written
herself. She will also be touring from January
next year.
Wednesday
September 8th 2004 - Music Biz : Jazz
Nigel visited
a young Jazz group to check out their sound, and
talk to them about their music. They discussed
what Jazz music is and how Jazz and World music
doesn't get enough airplay on the radio or
television, limiting the type of music that
people are exposed to. Nigel got to have a little
jamming session with one of their guitarists, who
was pretty good.
In summary, there's more to music that modern
pop.
